Rose Quartz is a variety of Quartz named for its pale to medium pink "rose" colors. The color is usually considered as due to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese, in the massive material. Some Rose Quartz contains microscopic rutile needles which produces an asterism in transmitted light.

Rose Quartz is found at many locations worldwide. Some of the more notable localities for Rose Quartz are: Parun pegmatite field, Wama District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan. From Berilo Branco claim, Sapucaia do Norte, Galiléia, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. and Taquaral, Itinga, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. From Poschingerhütte Quarry, Arnbruck, Lower Bavaria, Bavaria, Germany. From Tsaramanga pegmatite, Mahaiza Commune, Betafo District, Vakinankaratra Region, Antananarivo Province, Madagascar.
