Dianite was named in honor of Diana, Princess of Wales as it was discovered in the Eastern Siberian Region of Russia, in 1997, the same year she was killed in a car crash in Paris.

Dianite was named in honor of Diana, Princess of Wales, as it was discovered in the Eastern Siberian Region of Russia, in 1997, the same year she was killed in a car crash in Paris. Dianite is a variety of the Amphibole Group of minerals and has been called Siberian Blue Jade. It is not a type of Jade however. It is a type of blue Nephrite consisting of strontian potassicrichterite mixed with whitish porcelaneous Quartz-Microcline agregate.

Distribution: Murunskii Massif, Chara and Tokko Rivers Confluence, Aldan Shield, Saha Republic (Sakha Republic; Yakutia), Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia.
