Campbellite
is a rare mixture of several minerals which may include Azurite, Calcite, Chrysocolla, Copper, Cuprite, Gibbsite, Malachite,
Pyrite, Silver, Tenorite, Quartz and possibly
others. The material is from the Campbell Mine at Bisbee, Arizona
that was closed in 1975. There is no new material available
and anything available now is from old collections as
the Campbell Mine was the only source. Some pieces contain
more red from Cuprite or more green from Chrysocolla
while others are dominated by shinning Copper.
Campbellite cabochons are available and are very attractive.
Campbellite is similar to other mixture type gems such as
Mohawkite and Pulsite.
