Mandarin Garnet is a synonym for Spessartine Garnet. They are refered to as Mandarin Garnet in allussion to their color similarity to Mandarin oranges. The bright orange colors of Mandarin Garnets indicate that they are closer to pure Spessartine than darker red colored Spessartine gems which indicates a higher content of Almandine.
